A NEW HOUSE BUILT BY THE ARMY FOR A DISPLACED REFUGEE FAMILY

Due to adverse weather conditions and torrential rain affected to Puddukuddirippu areain the month of December 2023 January 2024, 21 members of 5 families were displaced due to overflowing of Theravil Tank. One temporally built house was totally collapsed which was located, under the Pudukudirippu Divisional secretariat.

In response, under the supervision of Commander 593 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier HVA Somaweera RWP RSP USP and with the sponsorship of donors and the Lift Life foundation, a new house for this needy family has been constructed troops from 6th Battalion the Gamunu Watch within 10 days.

The key of new house was handed over to the family by General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division, Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu with the invitation of the Commander 593 Infantry Brigade at a simple ceremony on 02nd may 2024

On this occasion, other families who were affected with flooded situation of Theravil water tank were provided with the necessary sanitary equipment to clean their houses.
