WANNI CHRISTMAS CAROLS – 2023

56 Infantry Division organized the "Wanni Christmas Carols 2023" to mark holy phenomenon of Christmas season and promote religious harmony and civil military cooperation among the peoples of Vavuniya district. It graced a colorful evening on 28 December 2023 at the Cultural Hall Vavuniya.

Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu graced the spectacle as the chief guest at the invitation of General Officer Commanding 56 Infantry Division Major General H G P M Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG. The event flowed in all three major languages - Sinhala, Tamil and English jointly and sung remembering the birth of Prince of the Peace, Jesus Christ while praying for world peace and prosperity. The event was coloured and made festival atmosphere by choirs of Our Lady of Madhu Church Rambaikkulam -Vavuniya, St. Anthony's Church Maharambaikulam - Vavuniya, Christ the King Church Rambaikulam - Vavuniya and Our Lady of Assumption Church Komarasankulam - Vavuniya.

The day's customary proceedings of event began with the opening prayer of Rev. Fr. Anthonithas Dalima and participated all religious priests, Vice Chancellor University of Vavuniya and members of the government establishments, civil community and over 600 people of the area. The General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division, Senior Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Staff Officers of 56 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders of 561, 562, 563 Infantry Brigades and all battalions commanders also witnessed the Christmas Carols.
