The 14th anniversary of the 561 Infantry Brigade was celebrated on 07 December 2023, at the headquarters premises in Kanakarayankulam under the guidance of Brigadier KMG Bandaranayake USP psc ,Comd 561 Inf Bde. The event saw a range of activities that served as a testament to the unwavering dedication and commitment of the troops.
Subsequently, a volleyball and a cricket tournament were organized at the headquarters play ground with the participation of four teams. The tournament was a great opportunity for the troops to showcase their sporting prowess and also served as a platform for them to bond over a shared love for the game.
In addition to that, a blood donation campaign was conducted in coordination with General Hospital Jaffna. More than 125 donors were participated for this event. Further, a religious blessing was conducted in Kanakarayankulam Sri Sambudda Rajamaha Viharaya and Kanakarayankulam Pullayar Kovil.
The day commenced with a Guard Turnout for the Brigade Commander, Brigadier KMG Bandaranayake USP psc. This was followed by the planting of a tree sapling in the premises as a token of remembrance. Afterwards, the Brigade Commander participated in All Rank lunch. Meantime addressed all the troops and appreciated them for their unwavering dedication and commitment to duty. Finally, a musical programme and a dinner was arranged at Bde Premises to refresh the minds of All Ranks.
