The Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Vavuniya, with his senior academic staff, had an initial discussion on the introduction of a system of scientific-based agriculture for the farmers in the Vavuniya district as a new research and development project for the students at the University of Vavuniya. The intellectual forum was held at the board room on 19 December 2023.
The proposed research programme was based on the dynamics of human security as a notional requirement and the following points were highlighted during the conversations. Renovation of abandoned irrigation tanks, connected water systems and water management. Prevention and precautionary methods to minimize wild elephant threats affected agriculture fields in the Vavuniya district. Introduction of the online floating agriculture base market and promoting it’s to the farmers. Further, the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Vavuniya came to a conclusion on the contribution of military assistance to the aforesaid research.

Wijemohan, Head of Department of Bio Science, his senior academic staff, and final year students were represented in the discussion.
