2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 9 (V) Corps of Engineer Service (CES) Regiment troops of the 213 Infantry Brigade under the 21 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Wanni on Sunday (5 Nov) took timely action and averted a major catastrophe by immediately patching two splits on Keedawaramkulam tank in Medawachchiya and BogahaWewa tank in Dewanampiyatissapura.
Accordingly, 2 (V) VIR troops placing sand bags on the threatened tank bund of the Keedawaramkulam tank prevented a major water leakage following the rise of rainy water levels in the tank.
At the same time, 11 soldiers of the 9 (V) CES Regiment took prompt action and averted a major split on the BogahaWewa tank by placing more than 50 sand bags.
213 Brigade Commander and Commanding Officers of 2 (V) VIR and 9 (V) CES supervised the tireless work of the troops which was conducted under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni and the General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division.
