RE-OPENING OF SWIMMING POOL AT 21 INFANTRY DIVISION PREMISES TO THE PUBLIC

The swimming pool at 21 Infantry Division premises, which had been abandoned for four years due to COVID -19 pandemic, was re-open to the public. When Major General WPAWD Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, took over the duties of Commander 21 Infantry Division, it identified the importance of functioning a swimming pool as a sport as well as a medicine. The renovation work started on 22 March 2023 by the troops of 21 Infantry Division with the guidance of Major General WPAWD Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, then General Officer Commanding 21 Infantry Division.

The main intention was to improve swimming skills of the Officers/Soldiers of the army and the first Swimming Tanning Course is scheduled to commence on 04 September 2023 for 62 personnel from Security Force (W).

Furthermore, the swimming pool is open to the Officers of Tri Servicers and Police, Soldiers and their families as well as the school children in and around the area who are interested in swimming. Now the swimming pool is equipped with all the facilities, such as changing rooms, a cafeteria and a shop filled with goods for swimmers needed.

The membership could be obtained on concession method for a month period, quarterly or annually. The present and previous condition of the swimming pool complex is shown below.
