In order to commemorate the 14th anniversary of war victory commemoration, with the objective of invoking blessings on war heroes who sacrificed their lives during the war a pirith chanting ceremony and offering alms-giving to 100 Buddhist priests were held on the 20th and 21st of May 2023 in the premises of Sanda Hiru Saya.
On the instructions of the Ministry of Defense, this religious ceremony was conducted with the participation of Hon. Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon, State Minister of Defence. 100 Buddhist priests were conducted from Western Entrance of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya up to Sanda Hiru Saya premises in a beautiful pageant. The pirith chanting was performed by 100 Buddhist priest were offered morning alms-giving and pirikara.
This religious ceremony was attended by General (Rtd) Kamal Gunarathne, Secretary, Ministry of Defence, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Forces Commanders, Director General of Civil Security Department, Commander, Security Force (Wanni), and the Divisional Secretaries and many distinguished invitees.
In order to make this religious programme a success, in addition to all the formations under the Security Force (Wanni), Navy, Air Force and Civil Security Department extended their fullest co-operation.
