62 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO ‘PADA YATRA’ FROM JAFFNA TO KATARAGAMA

HINDU devotees of North annually walk to Katharagama to pay homage to God Skanda. This year too they started this hard journey from Thondamanaru North of Jaffna Penisula walk before and reach to 62 Infantry Division area on 16 May 2023 .

20th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment under the sheer guidance of General officer Commanding of 62 Infantry Division Major General Janaka Ranasingha and Close supervision of Commander 622 Infantry Brigade Colenel Udaya Kolongahapitiya coordinated by Commanding Officer 20th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment Major Duminda Priyakumara organized meals and medicine required for the pilgrims with contributing its part has extended its hospitality to these pilgrims to make their annual pilgrimage a success.

Accordingly troops of 622 Brigade and 20 Battalion Gajaba Regiment of 62 Infantry Division provided cooked food, drinking water, medical care and also temporary shelters for them to rest and resume their journey to Kataragama on foot. Col AQ 62 Infantry Division Col Kapila Dikkumbura , medical officer Capt Dulan Gunarathna, medical staff, 2IC and troops of 20th Battalion the Gajaba regiment also organized to this task.
