General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division Major General WWHRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc and District Secretary Mannar Mrs. A. Stanley de Mel joined the ceremonial inauguration of 54 Infantry Division Vesak Zone together with Brigade Commanders, Senior Officer, Officers and Other Ranks of 54 Infantry Division where colourful, decorative and creative spectacles for displayed during the Vesak week.
After a while, General Officer Commanding and District Secretary Mannar were invited to switch on the illuminations in the Vesak Zone before he visited a few stalls where creative Vesak lanterns and decorations, crafted by the under command brigades and battalions. Further valuable prices were given to the most colorful and meaningful vesak lanterns and decorations.
The vesak zone exhibition was extended on the request of District Secretary Mannar Hon. Mrs. A. Stanley de Mal, till 09 May 2023 to allow GovernmentOfficials and school children to witness.
On 5 May the 'Vesak' Poya Day, with the direction of Commander 541 Infantry Brigade Colonel Waruna Gamage, 541 Infantry Brigade organized a ‘Bath Dansala’ for the villages. Approximately 800 people in Kalliyadi area were present and peoples conveyed their gratitude to the Army for organizing above community related event.
Inline with the 'Vesak' Poya Day 4th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Organized a Blood Donation Campaign on 01 May 2023. Nearly 150 Officers and Other Ranks donated their blood willingly for the betterment of the needy people in the country.
