The 21 Infantry Division celebrated the 35th anniversary with a series of religious and ceremonial activities from 25 March 2023, showcasing glamour and pride in a grand scale. Anniversary day celebrations included the Guard turn out and Guard of Honor for the General Officer Commanding, planting of sapling, all ranks lunch and entertainment session in the evening.
Additionally, in line with the Anniversary day celebrations on 25th and 31th March 2023 friendly Volleyball and Cricket tournaments were held respectively and GS Branch was crowned as the Cricket Champions while AQ branches crowned as the Volleyball Champions.
Under the patronage of the General Officer Commanding community relations programme was conducted on 02 April 2023 clearing of Kumbichchankulama Jogging Track which was 3700 meters with the participation over 300 troops from under command Brigades, Battalions, under command Battalions of Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) and some troops from Anuradhapura Police Station. Same day, delicious breakfast was offered to 31 orphans of “Sathuta Orphanage” at Saliyapura, Anuradhapaura.
On 04th April 2023, the anniversary day events commenced with Guard Turnout followed by a Guard of Honour to Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding 21 Infantry Division as per the military custom and norms with presence of all Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers of the Division. Then, Group Photograph was taken at Headquarter complex with all Division Staff and the General Officer Commanding along with other Officers and Other Ranhs also took a moment to plant Mango saplings in camp premises in remembering this precious moment of the 35th Anniversary and awakening the contribution to the nation.
Subsequently, all dignitaries participated for all ranks lunch and General Officer Commanding extended his gratitude during the address of troops remembering great commitment of Officers and men to uplift the standard and keeping the Division flag high at all times. All Officers and Other Ranks in the Division Headquarters were participated for all the events demonstrating a high note of esprit de Corps.
