The 65 Infantry Division was raised as Task Force 5 on 15 Dec 2008 at Mallavi and it was relocated at Thunukkai on 14 Jan 2009. The TF 5 was re-designated as 65 Inf Div on 18 Sep 2009. Presently Div AOR had been u/c to SF HQ (WANNI) since 04 Dec 2020.Under the guidance and the supervision of General Officer Commanding Maj Gen K A Samarasiri RWP RSP USP psc, 65 Inf Div celebrated the 13th Anniversary on Tuesday (15) amid simple arrangements conducted while strictly adhering to the stipulated Covid preventing health guidelines published by AHQ and the Ministry of Health.
Anniversary programme mainly highlighted with cricket tournament played within the Div Staff and as a reconciliation effort with the contribution and the assistance of all 3 x Inf Bdes and 4 x Bns under command launched distribution of 125 x lunch packets were distributed among the low income families living in 65 Inf DIV AOR and the refreshment for the children’s of Adhiradhan preschool.
Special lunch has been organized for the all the staff of the 65 Inf Div.
