Under the directives and guidelines given by Chief of Defense Staff and the Commander of the SL Army Gen. Shavendra Silva, 653 Infantry Brigade has launched a house construction project for less fortunate family in Sinnapandivirichchan village in Madhu Area, with the financial assistance of Divisional Secretariat Madhu. Troops of 65 Infantry Division, 653 Infantry Brigade and 24th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment offered much needed technical and engineering manpower for the construction of new house expeditiously.
On being informed of the plight of this family, the Commander 653 Infantry Brigade took the initiative with the guidance of General Officer Commanding, 65 Infantry Division, Major General Anil Samarasiri and coordinated with the Madhu Divisional Secretariat to take up the construction of building this house and the Commanding Officer 24th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment Major Indika Silva closely supervised the project.
On 30 October 2021, a simple ceremony at Sinnapandivirichchan villege warmed the new house upon delivering the key to the beneficiaries in the presence of a gathering General Officer Commanding 65 Infantry Davison Major General Anil Samarasiri, Divisional Secretary Madhu Mr B Jeyaharan, Senior Staff Officers of 65 Infantry Division, 653 Infantry Brigade, Officers and soldiers of 24th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment. The General Officer Commanding with Divisional Secretary Madhu delivered the key to the recipient of Army-built new house. Further, the General Officer Commanding donated essential items to the house owners.
The beneficiary family of four members was selected on the instructions of the Grama Seva official and other government authorities and worth of house about Rs 1 million and the project was coordinated by the officers and soldiers of the 65 Division, 653 Brigade and 24th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment.
