SRAMADANA CAMPAIGN HELD AT 62 INFANTRY DIVISION

As per the directions given by Major General Upali Gunasekara, General Officer Commanding 62 Infantry Division, a Sramadhana campaign has been conducted by the troops of 14 (V) Battalion the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, under the instructions of Brigadier Keerthi Perakum Commander 621 Infantry Brigade and with the supervision of Lt Col Jinesh Liyanagama Commanding Officer 14 (V) SLLI at Ethawetunawewa on 24th October 2021 as a result of the discussion held with GOC, Bde Comd, CO and Officers of farmers’ Society on 18th October 2021.

The aforesaid programme was started with the blessing of Chief Incumbent of Monarawewa Sri Mayurivapi Viharaya and together with 06 × 50 troops from 14 (V) SLLI, 36 x members from ‘Eksath Bedumela Sri Hasthi’ Farmers’ Society – Ethawetunawewa, and they cleaned the Ethawetunawewa Main Irrigation Cannel length of 2000 m which provides water for 206 acres of paddy fields and, facilitates 206 farming families during the Maha season.
