ASSUMING DUTIES AS NEW GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF 54 INFANTRY DIVISION

Major General U D Wijesekara RWP RSP USP rcds psc assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division under Security Force (Wanni), amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the Headquarters 54 Infantry Division on 28 July 2021.

The newly appointed General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by the Staff Officers of the Division Headquarters and honoured in a Guard Turnout and Guard of honour presented by the troops of 54 Infantry Division. Later on, Major General U D Wijesekara RWP RSP USP rcds psc placed his signature on an official document to mark his assuming of duties, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ in the presence of Senior Officers. Accordance with the tradition, he planted a sapling followed by troops address.

Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the Headquarters 54 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks were present on the occasion.
