54 INFANTRY DIVISION RE-PLANTED ANOTHER 160 PERCHES AT NORTH OF WILPATTU

According to the instructions of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), 54 Infantry Division launched the "THURU MITHURU NAWA RATAK" reforestation project in Wilpattu on 18 May 2019 and the project conducts in two phases. The first phase was successfully completed by reforesting 76.05 Acres and then the second phase with a target of 251 Acres was launched on 15 August 2020, 12 Acres were successfully re-planted with the association of Horizon International School in Kallaru area in this phase under the supervision of Major General A A I J Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu the General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division.

Troops of 54 Infantry Division re-planted in another 160 Perches at Sinathnagar in Mannar District on 3 January 2021 with the association of 306-C1 Lions Club, Sri Jayawardhanapura, Kotte. It was conducted as a part of the second phase of "THURU MITHURU NAWA RATAK" Wilpattu reforestation project under the direction of Major General W L P W Perera RWP RSP ndu the Commander Security Forces (Wanni). General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division, Major General A A I J Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu graced the occasion as the chief guest. 542 Infantry Brigade and 8 Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment organized the event on behalf of 54 Infantry Division.

Brigadier G W A Seneviratne USP psc, Commander 543 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Other Ranks and the president and the members of 306-C1 Lions Club made their presence on the occasion.
