DISASTER RELIEF OPERATION WAS CONDUCTED TO PRESERVE SINNAWALAYANKADDU TANK IN PARASANKULAM –VAVUNIYA AND CLEAR THE A-9 ROAD FOR VEHICLE MOVEMENTS BY 562 INFANTRY BRIGADE TROOPS

Sinnawalayankaddu tank bund has damaged from inside and water is being leaked due to heavy rain fall under the influence of Cyclone “ BUREVI” which was sweep across Wanni region throughout last few days (From 02 to 04 December 2020).Area of the tank is approximately 100 Acres and contain 190 Acre foot volume of water capacity which facilitate farming area of 200 Acres and 113 families are dependent.02 Officers and 20 Soldiers were able to repair the tank bund with the support of villagersand Irrigation DepartmentOfficials.GramaNiladari of Parasankulam village,Irrigation technical officer of Ireneiluppukulam, Assistant divisional secretary –Maud andVillage development officer of –parasankulam were attended.

One of a large tree (Godakirilla) fallen down to the A-9 roadat around 0145 hours on 03 December 2020 in front of the post Office in Vavuniya town due to bad weather condition prevailed in the area. One officer and 20 Soldiers from 17 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka SinhaRegiment has been removed the fallen tree withthe support of Road Development Authority to allow vehicle moments on A-9 road within short period of time.
