THE OFFICIAL VISIT OF CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF AND COMMANDER OF THE ARMY TO SFHQ (WANNI)

Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc made his official visit to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) on 02 December 2020.

Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army was warmly welcomed by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General WLPW Perera RWP RSP ndu.

Visiting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army was bestowed with a Drive Pass by 11 Gamunu Watch troops at the main entrance to the Headquarter premises of Security Force (Wanni) and later he paid his tribute to fallen war heroes by laying a floral wreath to the War Heroes’ Monument.

Thereafter, the visiting Chief of Defence Staff and commander of the Army sat for a couple of group photographs and planted a Sandalwood Sapling in office compound. Later, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army made his official address to troops under Security Force (Wanni) at the ORs Mess (“Me WadanaGe”) addressing over 300 of troops representing all under command formations to Security Force (Wanni),Commander of the Army recall his memory with the whole of the Wanni region as a battle hardened soldier and emphasized exclusive importance of the Wanni area where multicultural and multi ethnic harmony is existed. He commended the troops for maintain this reconciliation among the population in the Wanni area.

Commander of the Army was physically present here while developing cyclone “ BUREVI” and about to sweeps across the Wanni region and he stated that the Army has taken all emergency precautionary measures for safety of the people in the area as true guardians of the nation.

At the end of the troop address, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) presented a memento to Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army in order to mark his visit to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni).

Security Force (Wanni) taking another step forward for the housing project, for low income family resides in Mundimuruppu area. This newly constructed house was declared open by Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and ceremonially handed over to the family of Miss. M Suhananthini on 02 December 2020.The entire project provided financial assistance to construct these house by Presidential Secretariat Office and Government Agent Office in Vavuniya and constructions of house were undertaken by 14 Sri Lanka Artillery Battalion with the supervision of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni).

Maj Gen Ranjan Premalal (Commander Forward Maintenance Area- North Central), Maj General Vikum Liyanage (GOC 21 Inf Div), Maj General Indrajith Bandara ( GOC 54 Inf Div),, Maj General Wasantha Abrew ( GOC 56 Inf Div), Maj Gen Samantha Silva (62 Infantry Division, all Brigade Commanders, principal staff officers of the Wanni Headquarters, Commanding Officers, officers and other ranks were associated with the troop address.
