Downing of New Year 2020 brought a grand entertainment with a musical extravaganza organised on 31 December 2019 by troops of 211 Brigade under the instructions of Commander 211 Brigade Brigadier Lal Wijethunga RWP RSP USP and with the supervision of General Officer Commanding 21 Division Major General Kumar Jayapathirane RSP.
This grand musical night was organised coincide with the stepping to the Year 2020 and as a part of strengthening the reconciliation and ethnic harmony among Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities living in Wanni area.
The trade organisation of Medawachchiya sponsored for organising this grand musical evening that number of popular artists staged to entertain all onlookers gathered at CP Ground in Medawachchiya.
Civilians from Anuradhapura, Vavuniya, Medawachchiya and suburbs enthusiastically participated and enjoyed at the session throughout the night and Army provided the opportunity for the entrance for everyone free of charge.
The Chief Guest of the Musical Night was Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri ndu psc.
General Officers Commanding of 54 Division Brigadier Subashana Welikala WWV RWP RSP USP along with Commander 211 Brigade Brigadier Lal Wijethunga RWP RSP USP, Commander 212 Brigade Colonel Anil Peiris RSP USP psc, Commander 213 Brigade Colonel Rasika Kumara psc, Senior Officers, Officers of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni), Officers of Sri Lanka Police in Anuradhapura, Medawachchiya, and Vavuniya, areas, large number of Other Ranks from under command formations to Security Force (Wanni) were present at the occasion.
