Brigadier DSD Welikala WWV RWP RSP USP of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed duties as the 9th Officiating General Officer Commanding of 54 Division under the Security Force – Wanni on 23 Dec 19.
The newly appointed General Officer Commanding was bestowed with a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main entrance of 54 Division. In order to mark this memorable event, the new General Officer Commanding honoured with a parade and later he planted a sapling in the Division Headquarters. Subsequently, he addressed a cross section of troops performing duties under 54 Division and it was followed by a tea with all ranks.
Commander 541 Brigade Colonel KMPSPB Kulathunga RSP psc, Commander 542 Brigade, Colonel IHMRK Herath USP psc, Commander 543 Brigade Colonel M Mayadunne RSP USP and Colonel General Staff of 54 Division Colonel RP Munipura RWP RSP along with Senior Officer, Officers of Headquarters 54 Division and under command formations participated in the event.
