In view of enhancing the educational welfare of students in Wanni region, a programme of donating essential school items was taken place at the Cultural Centre in Nandhimithragama on 23 December 2019.
A selected set of students from families having low income was presented with school bags, books, stationeries and some essential school items. This donation was sponsored by the founder of “Sooriya Dharuwo” foundation in Kegalle/ the Chief Incumbent of Alulena Raja Maha Viharaya Ven Aththangoda Somawansha thero and the Civil Affairs Officer of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Lieutenant Colonel G A L Kithsiri through their personal expenses.
The programme was organised by troops under 563 Brigade under the instructions of Commander 563 Brigade and with the supervision of General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General Jaliya Senarathne RWP RSP.
During the programme, all students and their parents were provided with a sumptuous lunch which was organised by troops under 563 Brigade.
The Chief Incumbent of Alulena Raja Maha Viharaya Ven Aththangoda Somawansha thero along with the Civil Affairs Officer of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Lieutenant Colonel G A L Kithsiri, Officers of Headquarters 563 Brigade and under command battalions were present at the occasion.
