Continuing the welfare projects of SFHQ (Wanni) Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc in wake of enhancing the welfare of people in Wanni region, troops of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) organised a donation programme on 30 October 2019 in distributing artificial limbs for 30 disabled civilians living in 21, 54 and 61 Divisions areas.
Chief Civil Affairs officer of SFHQ (Wanni) Lieutenant Colonel Janaka Rathwaththe RSP coordinated the entire event. Centre for Handicap – Kandy stepped forward to sponsor for the donation of these sets of artificial limbs which are worth over two million.
The set of beneficiaries was opted out for the donation considering their poor economical background and the difficulties which they are undergoing due to the disability.
The occasion of distribution was graced by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc as the Chief Guest while Mr. Shantha Attanayake and his staff members of Centre for Handicap – Kandy were present at the occasion as guests of honour.
The Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Administration and Quartering, Chief Coordinator Civil Affairs, along with Senior Staff Officers, Officers along with Other Ranks of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) and large number of civilians too were present at the occasion.
