Troops of 21 Division under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 21 Division Major General Kumar Jayapathirane RSP and in collaboration with Derana media under its welfare project ‘Manusath Derana’ organised a social welfare programme at Pahala Galkandegama School in Medawachchiya on 26 October 2019.
The programme was comprised with several events mainly with medical clinic to diagnose chronic kidney diseases, a donation of spectacles for 350 civilians having eye defects, providing 50 dry ration packs for pregnant mothers, distributing solar panels for 10 selected destitute families and donating school items for students at Pahala Galakandegama Vidyalaya.
The main sponsorship for this charitable event was made by Derana media under its “Manusath Derana” social welfare project and it was coordinated by the Commander 211 Brigade Brigadier Lal Wijethunga RWP RSP USP.
The Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc made his presence at the programme as the chief guest.
The General Officer Commanding of 21 Division Major General Kumar Jayapathirane RSP, the Chairman of “Manusath Derena” Mr Mahesh Jayawardena, the Director Health Services North Central Province Mr Palitha Bandara, Divisional Secretaries Medawachchiya and Vavuniya South, members of Institute of International Health Science Education, members of Sri Lanka Eye Donors’ Association, staff members of Moven Pick Hotel, Brigade Commanders under 21 Division and Engineers Brigade, Senior Officers of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni), Commanding Officers of under command battalions to 21 Division, large number of civilians in Medawachchiya and nearby areas were present at the occasion.
