In line with the celebration of Army Day, Headquarters 62 Division under the instruction of General Officer Commanding Major General Dhammika Jahasinghe, marked the 70th Army Anniversary on 10 October 2019 with the presence of all Officers and Other Ranks of Headquarters 62 Division.
Commencing the formalities, the Army Flag was hoisted in front of the Headquarters Complex. The event continued with the singing of the Army Song and observing a two-minute silence to commemorate the fallen War Heroes. Then, the General Staff Officer II (Training) Major MDM Kumara psc SLLI proceeded with reading out the message of the Commander of the Army. The anniversary celebration was continued in planting 150 of Mee Saplings and 150 of Jack Saplings inside the camp premises of 62 Division.
Apart from that, the day’s celebration was much significant of promoting 02 Privates to the rank of Lance Corporal and a Lance Corporal to the rank of Corporal.
