CIVIL AFFAIRS REFRESHER COURSE CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY

Conducting Civil Military Coordinating Activities is playing a vital role in present day context of Sri Lanka Army and it leads to create a solid foundation for enhancing the National Security.

With that aim, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc initiated to commence a refresher course for Civil Affairs Officers performing duties at Division, Brigade and Battalion levels under Security Force (Wanni).

This course was conducted from 05 to 22 September 2019 at the Headquarters Premises of Security Force (Wanni) with the presence of 27 student officers representing all formations under Security Force (Wanni).

After a period of 15 working days, the Civil Affairs Refresher Course for Officers was concluded successfully on 22 September 2019 with a final presentation on one of the most relevant subject areas, the ‘Role of Civil Affairs Officers for National Security in Security Force (Wanni)’.

During this valuable course, all student officers were educated on vast range of areas on effective way of engaging with Civil Military Affairs through organising lecture sessions, discussions, syndicate presentations which were conducted by university lecturers, senior military officers, government authorities and many other intellectuals.

At the end of the final presentation, the ceremony of awarding certificate was taken place and the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc graced this ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) emphasised that the role of Civil Affairs Officers of Sri Lanka Army is one of the most important factors to prevent the conflict and establish a peaceful society.

The day’s event came to the end with a Dinners Club organised by the Headquarters Security Force (Wanni).

There, all student officers and staff members of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) were given a great opportunity to make aware on one of the important subject matters ‘the accountability and transparency issues in Civil Affairs Duties’ conducted by well experienced and professional intellectual, the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) Major General Rasika Karunathilake psc.

The Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Administration and Quartering, Senior Staff Officers, Officers of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) made the presence for the closing address and awarding of certificate of Civil Affairs Refresher Course.
