“THURULIYA WENUWEN API” WILPATTU REFORESTATION PROGRAMME CONTINUES WITH MORE STRENGTH

Army initiated programme themed ‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api’ launching to re-plant the adjacent forest areas to Wilpattu National Park was more strengthened with another two programmes organised by troops under 54 Division during 23 and 24 August 2019.

At present, these re-plantation programmes are being organized by troops under Security Force (Wanni) with the supervision and guidance of Commander Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc.

The first programme was a donation of essential items comprised of three jumbo Water Tanks (2000lt) in order to stock considerable amount of water required for the plantation sites daily. The donation was sponsored by WNS Global Service (Pvt) Ltd Company and it was coordinated by Major (Rtd) Aruna Withana. A team represented WNS Global Service (Pvt) Ltd Company along with Major (Rtd) Aruna Withana took part in the occasion of donating these items on 23 August 2019. During the programme, donors handed over these tanks to General Officer Commanding of 54 Division Brigadier AAIJ Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu.

In same, Spring & Summer Fashion Collection (Pvt) Ltd under the patronage of its Director Mrs Shamalee Wijegunawardena provided 5000 saplings to plant a selected area close to Wilpattu National Park which ‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api’ re-plantation programme is being launched right now. This great donation was coordinated by Major General (Rtd) Nishshanka Wijesinghe and the programme was held on 24 August 2019.

The General Officer Commanding 54 Division graced both events as the chief guest while donors of each programme made their presence as guest of honour.

Senior Military Officers representing Headquarters 54 Division and its under command formations, members of WNS Global Service (Pvt) Ltd Company and Spring & Summer Fashion Collection (Pvt) Ltd too were present at the programmes on respective days.
