Troops under Security Force (Wanni) organized a special Vesak programme on 18 May 2019 in view of ensuring the reconciliation among all ethnic and religious communities living in Wanni region.
This special programme was conceptualized by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu as a major leap forward towards the way of reconciliation after the tense situation prevailed in the country during last few weeks.
Representing all religions, the Chief Incumbent of Sri Bodhi Dhakshinarama Temple Ven Siyambalagaswewa Wimalasara thero, the Chief Prelate of St. Anthony’s Church Fr J S Jeyabalan, the Kurukkal of Siththi Vinayagar Hindu Kovil, Kandasami Kurukkal and the Mavulavi of Jumma Mosque Mohammad Ameer made their venerable presence in order to make aware all communities about the real value of reconciliation.
Depicting the true value of the reconciliation, the Muslim community in Vavuniya enthusiastically engaged in decorating the temple premises with colourful Vesak lanterns prior to make their presence for the evening programme.
The programme was organised by troops of 211 Brigade and it was much significant that all ethinic and religious communities made their presence for this noble event.
Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu made his presence heading this special programme to the way for regaining the reconciliation.
Principal Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers along with Other Ranks of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) and number of civilians in Vavuniya too were present at the occasion.
