Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Committee initiated a workshop at Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) on 12 February 2019 in order to promote motor racing in Sri Lanka Army.
Presently, Sri Lanka Army has produced number of National and International level competitors in the field of motor racing during last few decades and still giving the supportive hand for both Officers and Other Ranks who are fond of representing motor sports events.
As Sri Lanka Army is representing in motor sports events since a long period of time, Sri Lanka Army Motor Sorts Committee decided to hold the Inter Regiment Motor Sports and Defence Services Motor Sports events from 2017 and 2018 respectively and hundreds of Army riders and motorists are competing annually. It was significant that Sri Lanka Army was emerged as the champions in last year at the contest of Defence Services Motor Racing event.
In view of selecting suitable competitors from Headquarters, Divisions, Brigades and Battalions to represent the Inter Regiment Motor Racing Competition scheduled to be held on 01 March 2019, this promotion workshop was held initially based on Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) under the supervision of Brigadier Admin and Quartering Colonel Indu Samarakoon Lsc Hdmc and with the participation of veteran motorists and riders.
This workshop will be launched in all Security Force Headquarters under the supervision of Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Committee.
