As an initiative of Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General Kumudu Parera RWP RSP USP VSV ndu, 56 Division organized a four days family trip from 07Feb to 10Feb 2019 for soldiers, civil servants and their family members. 53 families including 240 members joined the trip and they all were warmly welcomed by the Commander 563 Brigade at Rathnamali pilgrim rest on 07 Feb 2019. This was the third successful family trip organized by 56 Division and its under command brigades and battalions.
Destinations on the First day itinerary were the Sacred Bo- Tree Jaya Sri Maha Bodi, Ruwanweli Maha Saya and in the evening they participated in a Bodhi Pooja at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Flowing day they visited Thanthirimale temple, Maduchurch via Manner to witness place in Manner district.
Third day theywere fortunate to witness some of the ancient archaeological sites and some artistic stonework of the history of saga such as Moonstones, Guard stones,Abayagiriya, Isurumuniya, Elephant pond, Samadi Buddha Statue and the Thuparamaya. In the evening, they enjoyed a special dinner, which was followed by a musical show taken place at premises of 4 Sri Lanka Signal Corps.
Fourth and final they visited Mihinthalaya Rajamaha Viharaya and back to Nachchaduwa tank premises for lunch. General Officer Commander 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc, Brigade Commanders of Staff Officers and Commanding Officers were present. All officers and Other Ranks of the 56 Division Headquarters contributed their immense support to make success this event.
