Celebrations of 71st National Independence Day were held in Mannar town with the participation of Government Agent Mannar on 04th February 2019. The main event of the celebration was the parade of Tri Forces, Police and School Cadets marched Mannar to District Secretariat Office and thereafter Government Agent hoisted the National Flag. The National anthem was sung in Sinhala and Tamil by students of schools in Mannar Education Zone.
Senior Officers of Tri Forces and Police participated in the celebration while Brigadier Keerthi Bandara RSP USP, the Commander 541 Brigade attended as the chief guest of the event. A large gathering of Government Officers and Civilians witnessed the celebration.
The parade was commanded by Major Suminda Gunasinghe, the Second In Command of 7 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. The National Independence Day Celebration was culminated with the cultural dance performed by school children which was fascinated by the gathering.
Finally the district secretary conveyed his gratitude to the Officers of Tri Forces and Police and all the participants for the utmost support given to make the celebration success.
