“83 Group” of Nalanda College distributed 54 Bicycles to needy students of selected 11 schools who at times are deprived of education due to transport problems in Education Zones of Vavuniya District on 11 January 2019 during a ceremony held at the Headquarters of 56 Division.
General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Major General Prabath Dematampitiya ndu psc, himself a member of this 83 Group and a distinguished old Nalandian, initiated this donation to uplift the education of students in distant areas in Wanni region.
Commander Security Force Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc, Group of 1983 Batch from Nalanda Collage, Brigade Commanders of 561 and 563 Brigades, Director Education Zone Vavuniya South Mr. Radha Krishnan, Director Education Zone Vavuniya North Ms. Annamalar Surendan, Divisional Education Officer Mr. R Wijesinghe, the Principal of V/Agrabodhi School Mr D M B Dissanayake, the Deputy Principal of V/Kanagarayankulam School Mr T Sugandan, large number of students with their parents too were present at the occasion.
