6th Preschool constructed by Security Force Wanni was vested with the children of Mahakachchikodiya area by Commander Security Force Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, along with great philanthropist Mr Anslem Sunil Malawana, Mrs. Ethel Diana Cecilia Malawana and Executive Director Hemas Outreach Foundation / General Manager Communications and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Shiromi Masakorala, on 20 October 2018.
The preschool costing Rs. 2.3 Million was personally funded by Mr & Mrs Anslem Sunil Malawana on a request made by Mrs. Shiromi Masakorala. The preschool consistsof a playground, a well facilitated building, drinking water, and sanitary facilities.
Hemas Outreach under their CSR project ‘Piyawara’ in partnership with Ministry of Child Affairs focuses on Early Childhood Development in Sri Lanka by establishing child friendly preschools across the country. Currently 48 preschools are functioning in Sri Lanka with over 4000 children receiving their primary education.
As a continuation of their CSR project, Hemas Outreach Foundation invited philanthropist Mr Anslem Sunil Malawana to fund this preschool on a request made by Vavuniya South Pradeshiya Sabha Secretary Mr. M S Janaka.
Construction of the preschool was under taken by the General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Maj Gen Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc, and was completed in a short time.Troops of 7 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under 563 Brigade constructed this preschool with the directions of Brigade Commander Colonel E A D P Edirisinghe psc. With this preschool, Security Force Wanni has constructed 6 preschools for the benefit of future generations in Wanni area.
Divisional Secretary Vavuniya Sinhala Division Mr M S Janaka, General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc, Principal Staff Officers of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), many Senior Officers, Students and Parents too were present at the opening ceremony of the newly constructed Pre School.
