As a continuation of celebration to mark the 69th Army Anniversary Day, 54 Division launched a tree planting campaign on 10 October 2018 coincide with the ‘Ruk Ropa’National Tree planting programme.
Under this tree planting programme, over 5000 commercially valued saplings such as Kumbuk, Kohomba, Palu, Halmilla, Bulu, and many other saplings were planted at several places in Mannar administrative area.
The programme was organised by troops of 542 Brigade under the directions of Commander 542 Brigade Colonel I M H R K Herath USP and with the supervision of General Officer Commanding of 54 Division Brigadier W G H A S Bandara RWP RSP ndu.
Religious leaders representing all religions, officials of public sector, senior military Officers, community leaders of various civil associations, school children and number of civilians in Mannar administrative area gathered in the programme.
