According to a concept of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, Army is organizing series of community based programmes, social welfare campaigns and some events with military formalities to mark the 69th Anniversary.
In that context, troops of 21 Division and its under command formations organized Flag Marches, Blood Donations and Shramdhana Campaigns on account of celebrating the 69th Army Anniversary.
As the first segment of series of events, Troops of 211 Brigade and its under command Battalions organized a blood donation campaign on 02 October 2018 at the General Hospital Vavuniya and over 104 soldiers donated blood during the programme.
Organising Shramadhana Campaigns to repair the water pump and clean the premises at the Kalnatti kulam primary school in Vavuniya on 03 October 2018, troops of 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment gathered in celebrating the year’s Army Day while troops of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps organized another Shramadana programme to clean the premises of Elderly Home at Mother Theresa Convent in Pampeimadu on 05 October 2018.
As the culmination of this celebration series a Flag March was organised by troops of the Headquarters 21 Division together with under command Brigades and Battalions and hundreds of troops marched about 5 km along the airport road Anuradhapura on 10 October 2018 by exhibiting the pride and valour of Sri Lanka Army.
Commanding Officers of under command battalions together with Commanders of 211, 212 and 213 Brigades directed their troops in organising the celebrations of 69th Army Anniversary under the supervision of General Officer Commanding of 21 Division Major General W R P De Silva USP ndu IG.
