In view of developing coconut cultivation in Wanni area, troops of 61 Division launched an initial programme to register the civilians opted as coconut cultivators under 61 Division area.
The programme of registering and manipulating other preliminary process of introducing coconut cultivation was taken place at Sinnathampanei Community Hall on 15th August 2018 with the participation of 65 newly selected coconut cultivators from 61 Division area .
As the first step, each cultivator will be provided with coconut saplings, adequate quantity of fertilizers and expertise knowledge free of charge till they reap their first harvest.
The introductory programme was organized by troops of 61 Division in collaboration with the Coconut Cultivation Board (Wanni/North) and its Regional Manager and other officials supported immensely to make success this event.
The General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier K D C G J Thilakarathne RWP RSP supervised the entire event.
