As aninitiated and guided by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Parera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, 56 Division organized a four day family trip from 14 May to 17 May 2018 for military personal, civil servants and for their family members.This successful family trip conducted by the 56 Division and its under command formations.
Families of Other Ranks and Civil Servants under 56 Division joined the trip. They were warmly welcomed to Anuradhapura on 14 May 2018. The first destination in the itinerary was Sri Maha Bodhi. Thereafter they paid their homage to Ruwanweliseya and visited Lowamahapaya. Further, they were fortunate to witness some of the ancient archaeological sites and some artistic stonework of the history of saga such as Moonstones, Guard stones. Dhana Shala, Elephant ponds, Samadi Buddha statue, Abhayagiriya Monastery, Isurumuniya Temple and the Twin Ponds were other places that they visited to see the saga of history.
It was schedule to visit the shrine of our lady of Madhu, Thiriketheeshwaram Kovil, Thaleimannar pier and Mannar Town on the second day. During the fourth day they paid their homage to Mihintalaya Temple and visited Nachchaduwa reservoir.
In the evening of the final day, they enjoyed a special dinner which was followed by a musical show. This colourful night was graced by the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Brigadier D A P N Dematanpitiya ndu psc as the Chief Guest.
The entire programme was organized under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Brigadier D A P N Dematanpitiya ndu psc and all officers of the 56 Division Headquarters took necessary steps to cater visitors’ transport, food, accommodations, medical and all other requirements.
