SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS WANNI BUILDSANOTHER PRE-SCHOOL FUNDED BY HEMAS OUTREACH FOUNDATION

Commander Security Force – Wanni, Major General KumuduPerera RWP RSP USP VSV ndu, together with Director Hemas Outreach Foundation,Mr. SakthaAmarathunga,and Executive Director Hemas Outreach Foundation / General Manager Communications and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Shiromi Masakorala, declared open another Preschool constructed atKalliady in Mannar district on 31May 2018.The preschool costing Rs. 2.5 Million was fundedby ‘Hemas Outreach’ under its‘Piyawara’ Project along with ‘Spirit and Soul’Foundation. Construction of the preschool was undertaken by the General Officer Commanding 54 Division, Major General AthulaGalagamage, under the instructions of Security Force Headquarters wanni and was completed in a record short time of 26 days.

Hemas Holdings primary corporate social responsibility project ‘Piyawara’ in partnership with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs focuses on Early Childhood Care & Development in Sri Lanka by establishing child friendly preschools across the country. Many preschools are operational in Sri Lanka with over 3500 children receiving their early education.

As a continuation of their “Piyawara” project, Hemas fundedthis preschool after seeing the hardships of civilians in Mannar Districtconsists of all three communities. The ‘Piyawara’ program goes beyond brick and mortar with a holistic approach to early childhood development. Under this program teacher training, parental awareness and many other facilities will be provided to the community annually whilst it will be under the monitoring mechanism setup by the Children’s Secretariat of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs.

Troops of 541 Brigade constructed this preschool under the supervision of Commander 541 Brigade Colonel K R K K T Bandara RSP USP.

With this preschool, Security Force Wanni has constructed 5 preschools, one Primary School and two more are in progress in the area for the benefit of the future generation.
