As an initiative of Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General Kumudu Parera RWP RSP USP VSV ndu, 21 Division organized a three day family trip from 19th May to 21st May 2018 for soldiers, civil servants and their family members. This was the second successful family trip organised by 21 Division and its under command formations.
64 families including 258 members joined the trip and they all were warmly welcomed by the Commander 212 Brigade at Sandahiruseya premises on 19 May 2018. Destinations on the First day itinerary were Vessagiriya, Isurumuniya, Thuparamaya, Jethawanaramaya, Lankaramaya, Sandahiruseya. Abayagiriya monastery was the other place that they visited on that day.
Further, they were fortunate to witness some of the ancient archaeological sites and some artistic stone work of the history of saga such as Moonstones, Guard stones. Mahapali Dhana Shalawa, Elephant ponds, Samadi Buddha statue and the Twin Ponds. In the evening they participated in a Bodhi Pooja at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Thereafter, they paid their homage to Ruwanweliseya and visited Lowamahapaya.
It has been scheduled to visit Thantirimalaya Rajamaha Viharaya, Mirisawetiya Nellikulam temple and the shrine of our lady of Madu on the second day. In the evening, they enjoyed a special dinner which was followed by a musical show taken place at premises of 21 Division Headquarters.
On the 3rd day (21.05.2018) they visited Mihinthalaya and returned to Sadahiruseya Sthupa. During this visit all the children and families were given gift packs and family packs.
All officers Other Ranks of the 21 Division Headquarters contributed their immense support to make success this event.
