As a concept of taking soldiers welfare a step further, the Headquarters of 61 Divisionorganized the second pilgrimage / educational / leisure trip for the families of soldiers and civil servants covering Anuradhapura, Mannar, Thalaimannar, Mihinthale, Thanthirimale, and Madhu areas during 20, 21, 22 and 23April 2018.
The Family Tripconcept wasinitiated bythe Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu with expectations of creating an atmosphere for the families to develop a long-lasting bond between families and to enable soldiers to participate in a trip as a whole family. It was encouraging to observe the positive reactions of soldiers and families building that rapport among members of families in a relaxed, friendly and warm environment.Soldiers too are awarded an opportunity to break the monotony of their daily routine work schedule and relieve their stress.
52 families comprising of 230members of Snr NCOs, Jnr NCOs, Privates and Civil Servants took part in the four-day program and it was admirably organized by the Commander 612Brigade Colonel M K Jayawardhana RSP USP along with Commanding Officers of 25 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 24 Gajaba Regiment and 17 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the careful supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Major General D M S Dissanayake WWV RWP RSP USP ndu.
During the entire visit the Headquarters of 61 Division provided free comfortable accommodation, all meals & refreshments, Transport, guidance, medical assistance and narrations at all visited places. Before the culmination of this enjoyable event, each family was given a brochure about visited places during the trip whileevery child under school age was given a valuable gift. Finally, all participants paid their heartfelt gratefulness on account of organising this programme.
