Commander 613 Brigade Colonel R K N C Jayawardhana RSP and his troops organized a Sinhala and Hindu New Year festivalat the public ground - Thachchanamaradamadu on 11 April 2018 signifying unity, peace and harmony among all communities. This is an annual event in the calendar of 613 Brigade and organized with the guidance of General Officer Commanding - 61 Division Major General D M S Dissanayake WWV RWP RSP USP ndu.
This ceremony was purely organised for the villagers to enjoy traditional Sinhala and Hindu New Year games where a large number of children and adults took part in the fun and amusement. The ceremony commenced with the tradition of hoisting the national flag by the Commander of 613 Brigade.
Rev Fr. Madanraj, Kurakkal of Murugan Kovil P Shelwa Sharma, the Divisional Secretary - (Madhu) - Mr. M Sathiyasothi, the Officer InChargein Police Station – Madhu Mr. Sujith Madawala, Member of Pradeshiya Saba (TNA) Mr. V Mahindan graced the ceremony as distinguished guests. All dignitaries as well as villagers who graced the occasion were treated with refreshments.
Valuable Gifts were presented winners in games and traditional events by the day’s Chief Guest and other officials.
