READING MAKES A PERFECT MAN; HUNDREDS OF BOOKS WERE DONATED TO ROSHAN MAHANAMA PRIMARY SCHOOL

Roshan Mahanama Primary School in Weherathenna is yet another silent act of philanthropic contribution by star cricketer and international match referee, Mr. Roshan Mahanama. The Preschool and the Primary school both in Weherathenna were financially sponsored by the gentleman cricketer and were constructed by the Sri Lanka Army.\r\nOn a request made by Commander Security Force Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera, to CEO of Independent Television Network (ITN), Mr. Chandana Thilakarathne, ITN came forward as a gesture of goodwill under their noble programs of “Hedena Rataka Vedena Lamai” and “Siphalata Poth Gulak”, donating large number of valuable books, study material and essential school items with stationaries were donated for the underprivileged children in Weherathanna and neighboring areas. In the same event the ITN also distributed a large container of essential dry rations to the needy families of the area.\r\nThis sponsors of the event, the leading broadcasting service in Sri Lanka, Independent Television Network (ITN) and its staff worked hard to make the event a successful one. They all came forward in a very positive manner and during the event most present were left with damp eyes and a heavy heart. \r\nThis occasion was attended by Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu and the Chief Executive Officer of ITN Mr. Chandana Thilakarathne as Chief Guests and with the participation of Senior Staff and executives of ITN along with veteran actor Dimuthu Chinthaka.\r\nThe organization of the event was by 26 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under careful supervision of 623 Brigade and guidance of General Officer Commanding of 62 Division Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe RWP RSP USP.\r\nCommanders of 621, 622, 623 Brigades, Commanding Officers of under command Battalions, Principal and staff of Roshan Mahanama Primary School, Principals and teachers of neighboring schools, staff representatives of ITN and also large number of villagers were present at the occasion.
