As part of this concept, troops of 61 Division along with its under command Brigades and Battalions organized the Inter Division Basket Ball Tournament 2017 at 61 Division play ground on 17 October 2017 with the careful supervision of the General Officer Commanding Major General D M S Dissanayake WWV RWP RSP USP ndu. Formations under command to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) along with 2(V) and 4(V) Womens Corp battled for the championship in track and field events during 13, 14 and 15 October 2017. The tournament conclusion brought a hard fought glorious victory to the21 Division after a nail biting battle against 61 Division which became Runners up of Inter Division Basket Ball Tournament - 2017.Trophy for the Best Shooter was awarded to Sapper Bandara N A D M of 7 (V) Corp of Engineers Services who represented the team of 21 Division while Sapper Ranasinghe D M U D belongs to 14(V) Corp of Engineers Services who represented the same team was adjudged the Best player.
General Officers commanding of all Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks participated in the final ceremony of the Inter Division Basket Ball Tournament - 2017.
