SF HQ (W) INTER DIVISION VOLLEY BALL TOURNAMENT-2017
While performing army’s prime role and task to the nation, we need to streamline our sport activities to inculcate comradeship, determination, courage and discipline in moulding of a professional soldier. In view of the above, according to the annual sports calendar of the Security Forces (Wanni), finals of Inter Division Volley Ball Tournament was held from 19 to 21 Sep 2017 at the Volleyball Court 62 Division.\r\n\r\nThe finals were being held with participation of Security Forces (Wanni), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North Central). The final match was held between 21 and 62 Divisions and team of the 21 Division became as the Champions while 62 Division being awarded as the Runners up, subsequently the third place was being awarded to 54 Division.\r\n\r\nNumber of players who are representing the under command battalions awarded prizes on account of the performance which they exhibited during the tournament.\r\n\r\nBest Defender - L/Cpl Jayakody BHDS (11 GW)\r\nBest Blocker - Pte Warnasuriya WMSK (21 GW)\r\nBest Setter - S/Sgt Rathnayake RV (8 SLASC)\r\nBest Servicer - Pte Jayaweera JATS (26 SLSR)\r\nBest Attacker - Pte Ilangarathne IPKS (7 SLAC)\r\nBest Player - Pte Madushan JPK (7 SLAC)\r\n\r\nThe General Officer Commanding 62 Division, Brigadier LANS Wanigasinghe RWP RSP USP grazed the event as the Chief Guest while Commander 622 Bde Brigadier MP Karunaratne IG, Commander 543 Bde Brigadier H M T B Hangilipola RWP RSP, Commander 213 Bde Colonel K A W S Rathnayake, Commander 561 Bde Colonel A C Lamahewa WWV RWP RSP, Commander 611 Bde Colonel L D S S Liyanage RSP USP psc Hdmc, Commander 623 Bde Colonel M K U P Gunarathne RSP psc IG, Security Forces (Wanni), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks were being made their presence for the final event.
