THE VISIT OF NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (WANNI) TO 56 DIVISION
The new Commander – Security Force (Wanni), Major General M K D Perera RWP RSP USP ndu made the first official visit to HQ 56 Division on 10 August 2017. The Commander was warmly and ceremoniously welcomed by the General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Brigadier T J Nanayakkara RWP USP ndu by awarding a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour at the premises of Headquarters 56 Division. During the visit Commander also commissioned a RO plant at the HQ premises of the 56 Division for the benefit of soldiers. At the outset the General Officer Commanding made a comprehensive briefing to the Commander pertaining to the Division at the conference hall. Subsequently the SF Commander addressed a cross section of 56 Division troops and signed the visitors’ book after partaking an all ranks tea. As a part of the official visit to 56 Division, the Commander visited 561 and 563 Brigades in Kanakarayankulam and Nawakkulam accompanied by General Officer Commanding 56 Division. During visits to the two Brigades, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) was warmly welcomed by Brigade Commanders, Colonel A C Lamahewa WWV RWP RSP and Colonel D P U Gunasekara RWP USP IG respectively with a brief presentation on the Brigade Area. Concluding the visit, the Commander also visited Kokeliya Ranaviru Housing Scheme and resettled villages Agbopura, Nandimithragama, Namalgama, Selalihinigama and Bogaswewa.
