MASSIVE SIGHTSEERS WERE ATTRACTED TO MANNAR VESAK ZONE
The troops of 54 Division -Mannar decorated the Thalladi Division area with the support of all brigades and units in the AOR to celebrate the National Vesak day on 10 and 11 May 2017. \r\n\r\nThe day was started with Bodhi puja. Afterwards, the Vesak lantern competition was ceremonially commenced by lighting the first lantern with the participation of the General Officer Commanding 54 Division (Mannar) Brigadier Jayantha Senevirathne.\r\n\r\nPeople of the area witnessed the splendor of this notable event and they refreshed with a cup of herbal drink which was provided from the “Osu Pan Dansala” organized by the staff of the Division.\r\n\r\nAt last, awarding ceremony for the winners of the Vesak lanterns competition was held in front the competition area. The first, Second and third places of the competition was awarded to the 19 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 21 (V) Gamunu Watch respectively.\r\n\r\nThe entire event was organized with the supervision and guidance of the General Officer Commanding 54 Division.\r\n
