WANNI TROOPS CELEBRATED POSON FULL MOON POYA DAY AT SANDAHIRU SEYA PREMISES
\r\nBuddhists in Sri Lanka celebrate Poson Full Moon Poya Day to commemorate the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Arahat Mihindu Thero son of Emperor Asoka of India at Anuradhapura - Mihintale in the third century B.C. Hence Anuradhapura has become the most significant place for Poson Festival. With the good will of celebrating this great historical and religious signifance festival the troops of 21 Division organized a Bethi Gee Programme named ‘Poson bethi Gee Saraniya’ at Anuradhapura Sandahiru Seya premises, on 20th June 20016 (day after the Poson Full Moon Day) with the guidance and direction of the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP USP ndu psc. \r\n\r\nThe programme was illuminated with the arrival and the blessings of the Chief Participants,Ven. Atamasthana Nayaka Theros who were respectfully received by the Commander of Security Force (Wanni). Troops of the Security Force (Wanni) and Dhamma School children of Sri Sanghamiththa Dhamma School Thanthirimalaya and Sri Ananada Dhamma School Mannar Junction, Pemaduwa presented the Bethi Gee for the audience of thousands of Buddhist monks, civilians, and Military personnel. Exhibition of Poson lanterns was held at the same place and all the civil participants enjoyed dinner (rice dansela) organized at Sandahiru Seya premises. \r\n\r\n
