According to the Buddhas word, food, clothing, shelter and medicaments are called the basic requirements of living. Among these four, food is said to be the first requirement of living beings, as Buddha said Sabbe satta aharattithika \"this body subsists on food-with which it continues to subsist\". As the country celebrates Vesak, 62 Division shared the Buddhist delightedness by opening the Vesak Ghee Rice Dansela at Parakramapura Maha Vidyalaya on Vesak Full Moon Poya day, 03 May 2015 at 1900 hrs onwards with the large crowds that thronged the area.\r\n\r\nThe menu was ghee rice served with soya meat devel, potato curry, dhal, brinjal, malay pickle, cutlet and papadum with a slice of pineapple as a dessert. Dansela was very successful and inspired by more than 5000 of Vesak sightseers and poor families who lining up to partake of the free meals.\r\n\r\nThis Vesak Rice Dansela was organized as a gesture of goodwill, under the guidance of Brigadier Devinda Perera RWP RSP USP IG, General Officer Commanding 62 Division along with all Brigades and Battalions under command to 62 Division with well-wishers, namely; Cancer Surgeon, Dr Krishantha Perera from Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and members of Blissful Mind group, those who have a hand to give and a heart to serve.
