ADDING A NEW FLAVOUR TO ARTISTIC TALENTS, INTER DIVISION CALYPSO COMPETITION LAUNCHED IN SF HQ WANNI
Security Force Headquarters WANNI , launched the Sri Lanka Army first-ever CALYPSO competition, on Saturday (21) at SF HQ WANNI auditorium.rnrnThe innovative force behind the projects conceptual notion and its realization The Comd SF HQ Wanni witnessed the aesthetic skills of those soldiers, together with the all Division Commanders ,Brigade commanders ,Commanding Officers, officers and soldiers of under command formations.rnrnAll those calypso bands were selected from Divisions, FMA (N/C), Brigades and Affiliated battalions under the SF HQ (W) after properly evaluating their knack for aesthetic talents before they were subjected to a competition, long training with their songs trainers and instructors for aesthetic studies. Under the first phase, more attention has been paid to the training on rhythmic beats, generally played calypso songs during the event.rnrnCalypso teams selected for final competition, In front of large gathering and professional judge board. soldiers displayed their talent during three rounds. 4th regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps received higher marks and won the first place while 5 SLEME and 4 SLSR won runners up and 3rd place.rnrnCommander SFHQ Wanni gave away the cash prize for 4th SIGNAL Crops to fifty thousand worth of cheque for champion and Rs.20000/= , Rs.10000/=worth of cheques were gave away to 5SLEME and 4SLSR Regiments for the runner up and third place of the competition.the event was judge by singer Chandra Kumara Kandanarachchi and Senior musicians, Ernest Soysa and H.M Jayawardana.
