WANNI TROOPS RESCUE & RELOCATE FLOOD VICTIMS IN ANURATHAPURA AREA
Troops of 21 and 54 divisions of the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) are tirelessly engaged in rescue and immediate relief operation in flood affected general areas of Anuradhapura since early hours on 20th December. Naachchaduwa, Thirappane, Rambewa, Tambuttegama, Galenbidunuwewa, Nochchiyagama, Kahatagasdigiliya, Rajanganaya, Thalawa and Palugaswewa in 21 division AOR and Pannivettuwaan and Emilnagar in 54 division AOR have been damaged effecting more than 2492 families due to torrential rain and flash flood waters.
The Commander Security Forces (Wanni), Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP USP ndu psc has given instructions to General Officer Commanding of 21 Division Major General PUS Vithanage RSP and General Officer Commanding of 54 Division Major General KMU Wijerathna USP ndu to take all necessary steps and ensure the safety of all victims since water levels are fast on the increase with all sluice gate in the area new opened.
Meanwhile troops have started preparing cooked meals and distributing those among the rescued people who temporary sheltered in schools and some other public buildings.
