THE COUNTRY RESCUED FROM TERRORISM SHOULD BE RESCUED FROM DRUGS

During the brutal war which existed over three decades in Sri Lanka, soldiers had to be away from their loved ones for months and months. To avoid the loneliness and memories of self-beloveds many of them prone to practice different ways and means, sometimes which were really harmful for them like drug addiction. With the dawn of freedom all over the country, being the happiest among the happiest of the war victory, soldiers were able to rejoin their families leaving all the agonies and difficulties on the war field itself. But still most of the soldiers have prone for using drugs specially liquor and heroin, by wasting their money and leaving their health in blue. In this contest, it is a very big challenge to prevent them from this hazard. As one step of this effort, prevention of drug, a counseling program was conducted for the soldiers, under commanding to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) on 05 September 2014 at the auditorium. The main purpose of this program was to strengthen the overall fitness and effectiveness of the Army’s workforce, to conserve manpower and to enhance the combat readiness of soldiers. The drug information education officer, Mr. Chamara Pradeep Karunarathna, the drug Information and Education Assistances, Mr. Supun Udan, Miss. Lakmini, Miss. Deepashika Karunathilaka, conducted the lectures at the program.
