The New Year celebration of 62 Division had been organised in a grand scale with the guidance and directions of General Officer Commander 62 Division Brigadier K G D Perera RWP RSP IG on 17th April 2014 at Vijaya stadium, Parakkramapura. The celebration which characterized the importance of peace and harmony in between the races, was graced by the honourable participation of the Commander Security Force (Wanni), Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Competent Authority for resettling Internal Displaced Personal in Northern Province Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc.
The festival was dominated with the traditional games such as cross-country, climbing grease tree, plating cadjan, eye on the elephant, a fancy dress parade, tug-of-war and selecting the best AWURUDU KUMARIYA.
The co-operation and sponsorship of Singer Sri Lanka organization was a great support to make the event a success. Further the Company of Davide Peiris Motor Vehicle, Hydramani, 26 Sri Lanka Sinhe Regiment, Mrs Pavithra Premathilaka, Ratnapura Gem businessmen Mrs Fashana and Sufas Hajyar, Mr Raja Mendis Director of Stassen exports Ltd, Stafford Motor Co (Pvt) Ltd, Ceylon Cold Stores Ltd and People Bank contributed with fanatical assistance and all the brigades and battalions under 62 Division have given their utmost co-operation for the event.
All the Division commanders, senior officers of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Brigade commanders of under commanding Brigades of 62 Division, Other Rankers and large number of civilians of different communities were among the participants.
